looking for a quiet getaway
across the bay,
less than 2 hours away
could just be for the day.
Just on the east side of the Bay Bridge, you’ll find the Hilton Garden Inn. Welcome to Kent Island; tucked away on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay. The waterfront is tranquil. The waves off the bay are soothing. Consider paying the extra dollar for the room with a balcony. Gives oceanfront vibes without being at the ocean. Honey, it’s worth it!
One night, I spent the evening at The Jetty. It’s a waterfront seafood restaurant and bar. The food was better than expected, drinks were on time and cold, and the vibe was chill. We played Monopoly Deal, watched basketball, and swayed to the background music. Are you ready to go leave, but you’re not ready for your night to end? Walk around the waterfront.

Nearby, take a nature walk at Terrapin Nature Park. Follow the path. Cross the creek, veer to the left and walk along the Chesapeake Bay. Before you know it, you’ll be looking up and over at the Bay Bridge. Set up some chairs. Put your toes in the sand. Take a deep breath. Rest in the peace and be still!
Stop in Stevensville Historic Downtown to grab a bite to eat. I stopped in at Almafi Coast Wine + Bar. I quenched my thirst and grabbed a quick bite. The Funghetti, a flatbread with wild mushrooms, truffle oil, gorgonzola, and mozzarella cheese, was so satisfying. Truffle takes everything to the next level! I was underdressed in my nature outfit. Come prepared in a outfit that says “nice lunch.”
Walk it off, by exploring My Little Studio where they sell local paintings, jewelry, pottery, glasswork, and woodwork. Check their website to see when local artists are hosting art classes. Enter with an open heart and open mind to appreciate the artistry, creative processes and expression.
Across the street, there is a delicious bakery, Peace of Cake. Desserts are made fresh in shop. They had cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, pastries ready for purchase. Planning in advance, they will fulfill your custom order. I purchased a berry cheesecake pastry and brownie. I tasted both treats right after purchasing and they were yummy! My sweet tooth was satisfied without being overwhelmed. The pieces were huge and made a great after dinner dessert!

Skate up the road and visit the Queenstown Premium Outlets. A quick 20 minutes and you can peruse the outdoor outlet mall. I stopped in some of my favorite stores like American Eagle, Nike, Adidas, Gap, and Old Navy. I’m here for a steal. No steal, no deal! Don’t skip A Little Lovely Coffee House. Service was pleasant. Coffee was rich. Support small business!

Don’t miss the sunset. The orange ombre meeting the blue ombre takes over the sky. Look out at the islands. Watch the small boats travel. Walk the waterfront. Rest and reflect on benches and A great time to sit on the dock or patio of The Jetty.
For a nice dinner, stop in at The Bridges. The upscale coastal restaurant makes “food from scratch using hand-picked ingredients.” I love food and am willing to pay the price associated with a good meal. Although the food was tasty, the vibe was stuffy and took away from my overall experience. However, the service was exceptional.
Check back next week, for our next destination 2 hours from DC!
